Taking place at the Northwestern Michigan College - Great Lakes Water Studies Institute, this 10 week training program covers all aspects of ROV operations as related to both onshore and offshore marine applications. This course is intended for all personnel who seek employment opportunities in the ROV industry and includes practical training with equipment typically used in these operations. Northwestern Michigan College is a fully accredited institution by the Higher Learning Commission and is renowned for delivery of training programs for the entire marine and maritime industry.
Two known commercial diving entities are now joined together under one umbrella. Eason Diving & Marine Contractors, Inc., located in Charleston, South Carolina, merged under the Mainstream Commercial Divers, Inc. brand name. Since 1976, Eason Diving has provided quality services to their clientele based throughout the southeastern United States and specializes in providing diving services to nuclear and fossil fueled power plants.
COMMERCIAL diving offers potentially rewarding career opportunities, and such services are required in multiple areas of the maritime sector and marine environment preservation. These points were highlighted in a keynote address by Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Minister of Communications during a seminar on commercial diving safety organised by Al-Hadid Marine Services (B) Sdn Bhd yesterday at The Empire Hotel & Country Club.
A dentist is warning keen divers to ensure their teeth are in good health, to avoid pressure-induced pain. Dr Richard Coates, who works at award-winning Riveredge Cosmetic Dentistry, is himself a scuba diver who has seen many cases of barodontalgia - pain in the teeth caused by being underwater. Now he is encouraging divers to check they don't have poorly executed fillings or cavities, to avoid the possibility of problems when they dive.
Oceaneering has been awarded a technology development contract by Statoil. The contract provides for the development, manufacturing, testing, and mobilization of a self-contained, battery-powered work class remotely operated vehicle (E-ROV) system deployed on the seabed.

RJE International introduces the new and improved lightweight military DG-100 Digital Depth Gauge to their line of diver navigation products. The DG-100 measures and displays depth up to 330 feet/100 meters using a state-of-the-art pressure transducer. The timer functions automatically track dive and surface times, and user-adjustable brightness settings of the OLED display aids in poor visibility conditions. A built-in stopwatch allows tracking of leg times, independent from dive or surface times.
