Counties have until Wednesday, February 28, to submit their nominations for the 2024 Georgia County Excellence Awards. The Georgia County Excellence Awards program recognizes counties that have undertaken innovative and cost-effective approaches to addressing local issues through their programs and initiatives.

Celebrate Georgia Arbor Day on Friday, February 16, to reflect on the vital role of trees in the state and across the nation. The official state event, co-hosted by the Georgia Forestry Commission, will take place on Tuesday, February 20 in Morgan County.

The Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council (GHRAC) wants to recognize inviduals and organizations that are dedicated to preserving and sharing Georgia's history and making historical records more accessible through its Outstanding Archives Awards Program. The National Association of Counties' High Performance Leadership Academy is celebrating their 10th Anniversary. To mark the special occasion, each county can enroll 10 leaders for $15,000 in 2024. The next cohort begins on April 22, 2024.
