The Governor’s Awards, a partnership between Georgia Humanities, Georgia Council for the Arts and the Office of the Governor, is looking for people and organizations that have made significant contributions to Georgia’s civic and cultural vitality through service to the humanities or excellence in the arts. The deadline to submit nominations is July 22.
  
Nominations are being accepted for the 2022 Governor’s Public Safety Awards. The awards are intended to recognize employees who go beyond the ordinary to protect Georgia’s citizens and property, or who contribute significantly to the public safety profession. The deadline for submission of nominations is Friday, August 5,
  
Congratulations to the GLGPA certificate recipients for completing the Level I Certification as a Certified Human Resources Manager (CHRM) and the Level II Certification as an Advanced Certified Human Resources Manager (ACHRM). Award recipients were recognized for their accomplishments at the GLGPA spring conference in June.
  
The Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) is reminding counties to use the Timber Harvest Notification website and to be mindful of best practices to reduce the likelihood of a Southern Pine Beetle invasion.

The Biden Administration recently announced the launch of the first-ever funding program that is dedicated to reconnecting American communities. The pilot program, Reconnecting Communities Program, was created by the president’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and will help reconnect people to economic opportunities and essential services in their communities. 
  
All 159 counties in Georgia are eligible to serve on a NACo Policy Steering Committee. County commissioners and county staff are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to have an impact on federal laws and regulations. Nomination forms must be submitted to ACCG by July 11
