Registration is open for the ACCG Fall Regional Training taking place this fall. The series will focus on Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) Negotiations and Redistricting. Training begins on September 20 and ends on October 6. County officials and staff are encouraged to attend as these issues can have longstanding impacts on your county.

The Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) is reminding all counties of new laws that are now in effect. From the Georgia burn notifications to tractor and bulldozer rate changes, ensure your county is adhering to the guidelines by reviewing these new laws.
The deadline for submission for State Fiscal Recovery Funds grant applications has been extended from August 31, 2021 to October 31, 2021. A revised timeline for applications and grant reviews to the state's Office of Planning and Budget (OPB) is now available.
In August, the US Census Bureau released redistricting data compiled from the 2020 Census. Several resources from the US Census Bureau as well as the Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment Office and ACCG are available to help counties best prepare for redistricting.

The USDA's Office of Rural Development Emergency Rural Health Care Grant Program offers relief to address economic conditions arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. It also provides funding to advance ideas and solutions to solve health care problems that support the long-term sustainability of rural health care.
  
September is National Preparedness Month.  This year, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) within the Department of Homeland Security is reminding everyone to “Prepare to Protect.  Preparing for disasters is protecting everyone you love.”  Each week the campaign focuses on a different aspect for preparedness.
