Make sure your county is better prepared to respond in difficult situations by participating in a free, online Crisis Coordinator training program. The training is available only to counties and authorites who participate in the ACCG Property & Liability Insurance Program.
  
Get the latest updates on training offered through the Lifelong Learning Academy. Be sure to contact your county clerk to register for the event(s) of your choice.
  
The 2021 Georgia County Internship Program (GCIP) Grant Application Package will be sent to all counties in October. More than 75 counties have participated in the program during the past 10 years. Any county is eligible to participate.
  
Learn more about this month's intern, Amonica Webb, and her experience with Augusta-Richmond County. Throughout her internship, she gained useful skills and contacts that will help her in future endeavors. 
  
The deadline to collect census responses has been extended to Saturday, Oct. 31. The latest response rates shows that there are still over 50 counties that have not yet exceeded a 50% response rate and that less than 60 counties have exceeded their 2010 response rates. Continue to encourage your community to complete the census by phone, online, or by mail by Oct. 31.

The 2020 Georgia Trail Summit will take place virtually Saturday, Nov. 9 & Sunday, Nov. 10, 2020. Join the event online for a two-day summit celebrating trails and connecting communities! County officials and staff receive a discounted registration fee.
  
On Thursday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m., join Rural Georgia Initiatives (RGI) for its third informative webinar highlighting resources available to rural areas looking to bring broadband to their community.
  
On Thursday, Oct. 1, the annual outdoor burn ban was lifted in 54 counties, primarily in the northern hemisphere. The burn ban is put into place during May 1 - Sept. 30 to reduce the risk of wildfires.
  
The pre-application period for the 2020-2021 funding cycle of the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program is still open. Pre-applications will be accepted until Oct.16 for Conserve Georgia grants and loans through the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program.
