This year we had our Spring and Fall Conferences during which some of our county members were awarded certifications for completing the Level I Certification as a Certified Human Resources Manager (CHRM) and the Level II Certification as an Advanced Certified Human Resources Manager (ACHRM) through the Georgia Local Government Personnel Association.

Earlier this year the Georgia Local Government Personnel Association (GLGPA) held their Spring Conference at the Legacy Lodge at Lake Lanier Islands in Buford, Georgia, on June 15-18, 2021. During the conference employees from three county governments were awarded their Level I Certifications as a Certified Human Resources Manager (CHRM). To achieve the CHRM certification, each person completed 13 classes and a self-directed learning project.

We would like to congratulate the following:
  • Kristi Finley, Human Resources Director for the Dawson County Government
  • Teesha Carter, Deputy Director, Department of Talent Management for the Rockdale County Government
  • Susan Merritt, Human Resources Director for the Sumter County Board of Commissioners
The Georgia Local Government Personnel Association (GLGPA) recently held their Fall Conference at the Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange, Georgia, on November 16-19, 2021. During the conference employees from four county governments were awarded their Level II Certifications as Advanced Certified Human Resources Manager (ACHRM). To achieve the ACHRM certification, each person completed 48 hours of instruction in classes and the completion of a multi-rater assessment instrument (Gov360) that collects ratings on behavioral competencies from multiple observers.

We would like to congratulate the following:
  • Joann Whatley, Personnel Specialist for the Houston County Board of Commissioners
  • Debbie Fraser, Human Resources Generalist for the Jackson County Government
  • Lesley Kilchriss, Human Resources Director for the Lamar County Board of Commissioners

The GLGPA certification programs are the only programs in the State of Georgia whereby local government employees may become certified in the Human Resources field. The programs are sponsored by GLGPA in conjunction with the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) and the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) and are administered by The University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
