The Port of Virginia and AAPA are planning a revolutionary experience at this year’s AAPA Annual Convention in Norfolk, October 13-16, 2019. The Northwest Seaport Alliance reached a historic milestone in July, handling a record 1,818,221 international TEUs year to date, a 6.2% increase from the prior year. This surpasses the previous record set in 2005 of 1,801,175 TEUs.
 
 
   
The Port of Long Beach has awarded more than $1.3 million through its Community Grants Program for 16 proposed projects to improve air quality and energy efficiency at facilities used by the public. The Port of San Diego announced a new public outreach opportunity on the future of San Diego Bay and approved the first lease for the Chula Vista Bayfront project. The Port of Sept-Îles and Microbrasserie La Compagnie proudly unveiled a new beer to mark the port authority’s 20th anniversary. This joint initiative also has a cause: For each Pointe aux Basques beer sold, a donation will be made to a Sept-Îles community organization. The Port of Tacoma Commission approved a total investment of $197,500 for the 2019 Local Economic Development Investment Fund, which helps to support international trade, tourism or infrastructure efforts.

The Jacksonville Port Authority has been voted top port in the nation for customer satisfaction and performance excellence by Logistics Management magazine. The Northwest Seaport Alliance was also recognized for its commitment to best-in-class service, earning top overall marks in the West Coast category of the 2019 Quest for Quality awards. Port Tampa Bay announced a revolutionary ship is coming to Tampa, as Celebrity Cruises unveils its brand new homeport, with the redeployment of Celebrity Constellation. Weeks Marine, dredging and marine construction contractor, celebrated its 100th anniversary with the christening of its newest asset – the highly automated and multifunctional ocean-going U.S.-flag hydraulic cutter suction dredge J.S. Chatry.
 
The Port of Long Beach will report on the Pier B On-Dock Rail Support Facility Program’s progress at its September meeting. The rail project is the centerpiece of the Port of Long Beach’s $1 billion rail program. The Port of Montréal and the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together to advance the project development of a new container terminal in Contrecoeur, where the port plans to expand its activities.
