APM Terminals Pier 400 in the Port of Los Angeles established what the terminal operator claims is a "single vessel cargo operations record" during the October 19 call of the Maersk Evora.
 
 
   
The Georgia Ports Authority board has approved rail and gate expansion projects that will significantly increase capacity at Garden City Terminal in the Port of Savannah. The action came as the agency’s marine terminals were experiencing record container volumes and double-digit cargo tonnage gains. 

Oakland Port Commissioners on November 9 gave initial approval to a 15-year agreement with CenterPoint Properties for a $52 million logistics center on the site of a former Army supply depot in the heart of the Port of Oakland

 
Swire Shipping will begin container shipping service at the Port of Portland's Terminal 6. The announcement follows a recent trade mission trip to Hong Kong, where Oregon Governor Kate Brown and port representatives met with Swire corporate executives.

A second new fireboat was officially brought into service November 13 at the Port of Long Beach, completing a program to bolster waterborne safety at one of the world’s busiest container ports.
 
 
   
Port Canaveral's cruise operations set a record in FY 2016-17, with 4,520,229 passengers. That was up 4.6 percent from FY 2015-16 and includes multi-day and single day cruise passengers. Carnival Cruise Line plans to beef up its New Orleans-based short cruise program, beginning in May 2019. A multi-million-dollar upgrade is in store for the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, one of two cruise facilities owned and administered by New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). The 2017 cruise season ended positively at Port Saint John, with cruise visitors – passengers and crew members – increasing 3.0 percent, to 208,818 from 202,929 in 2016.
 
The FY 2018 Operating and Capital Budget approved earlier this month by Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority anticipates the port’s strong financial performance will continue.  The capital budget alone totals $275 million.

The Port of Vancouver USA Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the port’s tax levy and 2018 budget at its regularly scheduled meeting on November 14. At $68.5 million, the port’s 2018 budget is $16.7 million less than its 2017 budget.

 
PortMiami recently handled Seaboard Marine’s first delivery of dragon fruit from Ecuador to the Florida market. 
 
The board of commissioners of the Lake Charles Harbor & Terminal District recently elected Dudley Dixon president for 2017/18 and welcomed new Commissioners Carl Krielow and Thomas Lorenzi. Curtis Pierce was sworn in November 8 as the newest elected member of the Greater Lafourche Port Commission.  
 
Port Freeport’s governing commission has agreed to extend its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) for an additional five years.  
 
The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners last week awarded $440,650 in sponsorship to 100 local organizations promoting causes such as the arts, environment, social justice and historic preservation.
 
General cargo liftings at public marine terminals in the Port of Baltimore jumped to 8,091,919 short tons during the first nine months of calendar year 2018, according to data from the Maryland Port Administration.  Last month was the busiest October ever for import-laden containers at the Port of Oakland.
