The Georgia Ports Authority board of directors at its November 21 meeting approved funding for projects that will boost rail lift capacity at Garden City Container Terminal in the Port of Savannah and develop additional acreage for vehicle processing at the Colonels Island complex in the Port of Brunswick. More than $300 million is earmarked for infrastructure, warehousing and equipment at the Port of Philadelphia through a Capital Investment Program announced November 22 by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf. These improvements will result in doubling container capacity at the port and provide capacity increases as well for breakbulk cargo and auto handling.
The Port of Houston Authority will now be marketed as Port Houston, with the adoption of a new brand and logo designed to ensure the port continues to broaden its business base and provide economic benefits and jobs to the region, state and nation.
Deploying zero and near-zero emission trucks and cargo-handling equipment and expanding programs that reduce ship emissions are among the core strategies the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are proposing for the next version of the San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP).
