Industry Updates

Thank you to the 700 individuals who attended our 2017 Apartment Conference and Trade Show. We had 579 Conference Attendees and 122 Exhibitors, Sponsors, and Volunteers who collectively made this year’s conference an exhilarating success. It was a record setting year. Our industry is dynamic and the theme of this year’s event, Be A Super Hero, capitalized on how each of us can and do make a difference in our apartment communities.

People want to do business with those who show likability, respect, and accountability. This builds trust, which in turn helps your business. It takes a little effort to build the skills that make you more likable, but it pays off in every environment, work or not.

On October 3rd, Albuquerque voters will be presented with an option to vote for mandatory paid sick leave for all Albuquerque employees. The so-called Healthy Workforce Ordinance would require all employers, big and small, to provide all employees within the city with paid sick leave. Implementation of this law would have a significant negative impact on Albuquerque employers. If adopted, the Ordinance would not be subject to revision or compromise, and would go into effect as is.
1. If the employer takes ANY ADVERSE ACTION against an employee within 90 days of taking sick leave it is presumed the employer is retaliating against the employee, which is a punishable violation under this ordinance.
