We officially kicked off our 2021 Regional Conference & Trade Show schedule last week and will keep the ball rolling next week with the 2021 AAHOA Mid Atlantic Regional Conference & Trade Show, set for September 7 in Cherry Hill, NJ. We introduced a brand-new format this year that includes a region-specific education session, a reveal of national and state-specific data from the recently announced AAHOA-Oxford study, and an open forum where members can ask questions and share feedback. The 2021 AAHOA North Carolina Charity Golf Tournament, held last weekend at Rocky River Golf Club in Concord, NC, was a rousing success! Regional Director Akshat Patel and the Ambassadors welcomed an enthusiastic field of players who enjoyed a fun-filled day of golf and networking and raised thousands for 12 worthwhile charities. The North Carolina tournament was the last event on our 2021 charity golf schedule and we are grateful for all the participants who helped us support worthy causes and ongoing COVID-19 relief efforts. Truist Securities (formerly SunTrust Robinson Humphrey) reports, “Last week’s RevPAR was up against a -44.5% comparable result in 2020 vs. -46.1% in the prior week’s 2-year run-rate. On a 2-year run-rate, RevPAR was -5.5% vs. -4.5% in the prior week’s 2-year run-rate. Upscale RevPAR: +73.3% y/y and -13.2% over 2 years; Upper Midscale RevPAR: +59.7% y/y and +0.1% over 2 years. Last week's results at a national level showed continued modestly sequentially softer demand given the rise of the Delta variant impact and seasonality/back-to-school. Additionally, there was weather impact for 2020 and 2021 comparisons. In 2021, we saw some late-week impact from Hurricane Ida (Dallas and Houston occupancy rising materially on Saturday into the 70s/80s and New Orleans occupancy rising far more modestly into the weekend).”
