This Is Our Association’s Greatest Honor
The WRLA Industry Achievement Award is celebrating its 39th Anniversary this year. This award recognizes members of the WRLA who have contributed to their business, the building supply industry, the WRLA and the communities in which they live. The WRLA wants to recognize the individual who is or has been actively involved in the building supply industry, who has faced challenges and recognized opportunities, and who wishes to share best practices with the association. This individual has received the respect of fellow members of the association through contributions to the industry, the community, and the WRLA. Event celebrates achievements and makes final preparations as Team Canada readies for WorldSkills London 2011 Skills/Compétences Canada, a not-for-profit organization that actively promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies, along with Mike Holmes, Canada's Most Trusted Contractor, and the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development today gave support and encouragement to Team Canada 2011 as they gathered in Ottawa for the Champions Breakfast. The event was the official 'send off' for Team Canada as they prepare for WorldSkills London 2011 - the world's largest, international skills competition with young people from across the globe competing to be the best of the best in their chosen skill. Starting today, consumers can drop off cans of any brand of old or unused paint at any RONA or TOTEM Building Supplies store, no purchase necessary. By promoting the recovery of paint products, RONA provides consumers with an easy, convenient and economical way to do their part in protecting the environment. RONA has been a Canadian pioneer in paint recovery from the start with the introduction of its recovery and recycling program 14 years ago in Quebec, followed by Ontario in 2008. Since its inception, RONA has saved more than 15 million kilograms of leftover paint and paint cans from ending up in landfills. From this, nearly 100 percent of the recovered paint has been recycled, producing 9.3 million kilograms of paint - equivalent to 4.9 million gallons.
