Monthly growth in health care jobs has averaged 17,000 jobs through October this year, lagging behind an average monthly gain of 27,000 jobs in 2012, according to the most recent seasonally adjusted numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued a proposed rule to improve the tracking of workplace injuries and illnesses. The proposed rule would amend OSHA's current recordkeeping regulations and would require electronic submission of injury and illness information. Establishments with more than 250 employees are already required to keep injury and illness records, and the proposed rule would required them to electronically submit the information to OSHA every quarter.
