HR Houston members interested in volunteering their time and talents to community programs that benefit the workplace attended the 2015-2016 kick-off meeting for the chapter’s HR Gives Back committee. 

 
The 14th Annual Texas SHRM Global HR Conference was held in Houston on September 9. Seasoned global HR professional and those new to a global HR role met at the Norris Conference Center for a day of networking and new learning.

Professionals, both HR practitioners as well as consultants, shared their ideas and insights regarding the latest topics of interest in the world of global HR. This one-day event was packed full of educational sessions, sponsor and exhibitor information, and networking opportunities.

The Hill Country Human Resource Management Association hosted their 3rd Annual Scholarship Fundraiser and professional development workshop on Thursday, September 10. Over 70 attendees gathered at the San Marcos Embassy Suites and Conference Center for a full day of information on HR best practices and leadership skills. The event will provide scholarships to Texas State Student SHRM chapter students and members to go toward tuition, student competitions, and SHRM activities.

McCoy College of Business Administration at Texas State was a Platinum Sponsor and they have an undergraduate and graduate HR program.

 
DallasHR will host its inaugural "Around Town" luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The program is designed to offer events at various locations in the city in a more intimate setting, making them more accessible for a greater audience. The luncheons will take place at the offices of pre-determined companies to hear about the innovative and exciting things that their HR leaders are focusing on and successfully accomplishing.

The pilot event will focus on research findings from Korn Ferry around succession management, the talent pipeline and the implications for employers. For more information, click here.
