As part of the reconfiguration, WestRock will permanently shut down one of the mill’s three paper machines and related physical infrastructure, eliminating approximately 288,000 tons of linerboard capacity. The reconfigured mill’s production capacity will total approximately 605,000 tons per year, consisting of three grades: kraft linerboard; KraftPak, an unbleached folding carton kraft paper; and DuraSorb, a saturating kraft paper used for decorative laminate and industrial end uses.

Lumber imports to Japan from Russia expanded 12.9% y-o-y in second quarter of 2019 to 250.0 thousand m3 with import value jumped 13.5% to $90.7 million, according to Customs and Tariff Bureau of Japan. Canada’s lumber exports to Japan declined 25.2% to 381.4 thousand m3, export value fell 32.4% to $146.6 million.

With an investment volume of 370 million euros, Hamburger Containerboard is expanding its production site at the Schwarze Pumpe industrial estate to become one of the most modern and efficient paper factories in Europe. At full capacity utilisation of the plant, 500,000 tonnes of high-quality white and brown packaging paper are manufactured each year.
 
By investing in the latest coated board technology, JK Paper targets to increase its market share on a growing Indian market and to serve the market with more local supply. The 4,250-mm-wide (wire) board machine will produce folding boxboard, solid bleached board (SBS) as well as cup and barrier board grades.
 
The company is now entering the market for flexible packaging paper and intends to make a name for itself there with sustainable products. Sustainability is of great importance at Koehler not just because of the current mood in society. It is a part of Koehler’s corporate strategy and plays a significant role across every division.

It is an important milestone for Valmet to install the largest VPE press type in to a bleached chemi-thermomechanical mill for the first time in Finland. The renewal improves Pankaboard’s process management and enables transparency in the whole value chain based on Tieto Integrated Paper Solution (TIPS) for the paper industry. The new roll service agreement will extend the roll recovering service to SCG’s all paper mills including packaging paper and fine paper in Thailand and Vietnam. With this new agreement, Valmet will be responsible for all the roll recovering services consisting of rubber, polyurethane and composite covering for all rolls.

Juha Rainio will report to Panu Routasalo, Vice President, UPM Biofuels and become a member of UPM Biofuels’ management team. Juha holds a MSc degree in Economics and he has several years’ experience working in the fuel industry with Teboil, where he recently headed the Supply and Logistics Division.
 
Brinder Gill has joined its North America Sales Team as Area Sales Director for the Eastern United States and Canada. He joins the company from Silgan Dispensing Systems, where he served as Senior Manager, Global Beauty Category Marketing. Gill is based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
