TAPPI Presents New Free Webinar: The Basics of Screening

The TAPPI Papermakers Committee is hosting a free webinar, The Basics of Screening, on Wednesday June 17 at 12:00 p.m. EST. The webinar will be conducted by Mark Pinette, service account manager for Andritz, Inc. This webinar will be the first in a series focused on screening and refining.
Screens are used in every area of a mill for contaminant removal. This webinar will cover the basics of screening including barrier screening vs. probability screening, key components of a pressure screen, housing, baskets (holes vs. slots) rotors, and basic mode of operation / controls.
It will also address applications of pressure screens in the paper industry, Kraft (pulp mill) screens including hot stock, recycle screens (coarse and fine),  mechanical pulp screens, and paper machine screens: (approach flow, thick stock, and broke). 
Mark Pinette is a paper industry professional with extensive product management, technical, sales, operations, and engineering experience in stock preparation and recycled fiber processing systems.
Mark was the senior product manager in the Andritz Screening Technology Group prior to assuming his current role as service account manager. Previous roles include technical & applications manager for Fiedler where he  successfully designed, sold, and started up screening systems and conversions/upgrades of all types of screening equipment.
Mr. Pinette earned his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Vermont and worked briefly in the power industry prior to entering the paper industry.  From 1983 -1993 he worked in mills as a project engineer and assistant machine superintendent. Mark has been an active member of TAPPI for over 25years.
