As the 3rd largest chapter in MPI, we rely on the dedication and service of our volunteers to help us lead the chapter, advance our industry and meet the needs of our members. This is your opportunity to expand your network, distinguish yourself from your peers and contribute to the goals and success of the Potomac chapter. The Nominating & Governance Committee is currently seeking candidates to serve in the following leadership positions for the 2013-2014 PMPI Board of Directors: • President-Elect (3-year commitment, with automatic succession to President in 2014-2015 and Immediate Past President in 2015-2016) • Vice President of Communications (two-year term) • (5) Board Directors (two-year term) The Board of Directors is currently comprised of 17 chapter members (7 Executive Committee members and 10 Board Directors). Margaret Miller will serve as the 2013-2014 PMPI Chapter President. Nominations for all positions will be in accordance with PMPI Bylaws. Any supplier or planner member in good standing is eligible for nominations and election to these positions. Your Candidate Interest Form should include the skills and talents you bring to the board, any past involvement with the chapter, recognition of the time commitment involved in a leadership position and a declaration of your employer’s support. Applications will be accepted through Friday, February 1, 2013, for terms beginning July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014. In-person interviews will be conducted with all President-Elect nominees and the Nominating & Governance Committee may schedule phone or live interviews with other candidates as well. The committee will recommend one candidate per position on a slate that will be presented to the membership in March 2013, and if no positions are contested, elected candidates will take office on July 1, 2013. Registration is now open . The PMPI CMP University Boot Camp is a two day interactive review of the CMP International Standard, which focuses on key areas of concern and test taking tips. #1 -Donate Funds: Hurricane Sandy has caused massive destruction and dislocation along the East Coast of the United States. This disaster has caused loss of life, housing and bare essentials. Many hearts have been aching through this Holiday Season and these victims still need our help. PMPI is eager to give some hope to those coping with this travesty. PMPI wants to support our fellow members in New Jersey and New York and we need your help. Our goal is to raise money to help those in need.
"Atlantic City, hospitality workers face financial worries in Hurricane Sandy's aftermath" – NJ.com PMPI member Carrie Mitchell, CMP, national sales manager with the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority, is working closely with her organization to assist families in need in the Atlantic City area. To support one of our members, we have selected their recommended charities:
We are actively seeking monetary donations to help them purchase food, blankets, space heaters and other items to help those in the affected areas. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated and just may give a family the hope they need for a brighter start in 2013. Every dollar counts. Click here to donate. Community Outreach Committee is hosting a blood drive in the exhibit hall at Marriott Wardman Park on February, 6 from 10 - 4pm. The American Red Cross will be posting the best from their team at the MACE Blood Drive booth. The Greater Chesapeake and Potomac (GC&P) Region supplies blood to patients in over 60 hospitals – including 10 trauma centers- in the Baltimore, Washington, Northern Virginia and South Central Pennsylvania area.
On average, the Red Cross holds about 20 drives daily and strives to collect approximately 1,000 units of blood each day in order to fulfill the needs of patients in our community. Facts About Blood Needs:
