NRMCA is working with the RCC Promotion and Education Council to identify Roller Compacted Concrete pavement projects across the United States. "Specifically, we are trying to identify RCC projects completed between 2014 and 2016," says NRMCA Vice President, Local Paving, Phil Kresge. "Large or small, we’re interested in everything."

The projects will be added to the database created through surveys that were conducted in 2010 and 2014 by Dr. David Pittman, US Army Corps of Engineers, and Corey Zollinger of NRMCA Producer member CEMEX, respectively. The information obtained in those surveys has proven to be very useful to the industry. Keeping the database current will be even more beneficial. Once the data is compiled, the RCC Council will prepare a paper summarizing the information.

Project information being requested includes the name, location and owner of the project; year of construction; paving contractor, pavement application (parking lot/roadway/shoulder etc.), pavement area (in square yards) and thickness, paver type and surface finish (natural/diamond grind/troweled/asphalt overlay). "We’d love to have all the information on every project, but we know that may be difficult," Kresge said. "We’ll take whatever information you can share."

To submit project information or for more details, contact Phil Kresge at pkresge@nrmca.org.
NRMCA has announced that Chris Dagosta is the newest member of NRMCA’s building promotion team. Based in Phoenix, Dagosta is a senior director of building innovations; he will join his colleagues in promoting the Build with Strength Concrete Design Center, a nationwide initiative to offer technical expertise to developers and design professionals in order to incorporate cutting-edge concrete solutions into their building projects.

Before joining NRMCA, Dagosta was the owner of Efficient Product Solutions, LLC, a distributor for Insulating Concrete Forms across the West/Southwest U.S. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, 12 of them dedicated to concrete building systems. In his new role, he will work closely with building professionals, developers and design experts to offer cost efficient, sustainable concrete solutions with a focus on low, mid-rise and multi-family residential structures.

NRMCA has published a new course titled Concrete’s Contribution to LEED v4 and has announced it in the August issue of Architect magazine and in Hanley Wood’s online university. The article discusses advancement in LEED v4 that will change the way design professionals, contractors and product manufacturers do business. Many credits, such as Rainwater Management, Heat Island Reduction and Optimized Energy Performance, are refined. Others, such as Material and Resource (MR) credits, challenge product manufacturers to disclose their environmental, social and health impacts in third-party validated reports. This article reveals strategies using concrete that yield successful results in achieving sustainability goals.

As part of the Build with Strength initiative to educate the building and design communities on the benefits of ready mixed concrete, NRMCA has published three courses in Architect magazine and Hanley Wood University, including:
Concrete's Contribution to LEED v4 (Print Course)
Insulating Concrete Forms for Commercial Construction (Print Course)
Insulating Concrete Forms for Multifamily Residential Construction (Print Course)

Anyone can take the courses and they are free. For more information, contact Lionel Lemay at Llemay@nrmca.org or 847-918-7101.

Last week, NRMCA submitted comments to the Department of Labor (DOL) supporting the agency’s efforts to formally vacate the controversial (DOL) "Persuader" Rule. The rule, which was put on hold nationally by a federal judge last November and then reaffirmed by the same court last December, is now formally on the chopping block by the Trump Administration. Since its inception, NRMCA has opposed the rule, which aimed to limit employers’ ability to seek and retain legal counsel for purposes of consulting on employee union organizing drives. The rule also would have required employers and legal counsel to disclose certain financial and other unnecessary private company information, among other erroneous provisions. NRMCA’s comments detailed how the rule represents an unwarranted intrusion into employer’s  and employees’ rights and that the revisions are overly-broad in scope.

There is a lot going on in Washington – tax reform, infrastructure, regulatory reform – and it is imperative that the ready mixed concrete industry has a voice on Capitol Hill. That’s why NRMCA has formed the Congressional Ready Mixed Concrete Caucus, a formally recognized organization sponsored by a bipartisan group of House of Representatives' members to promote and enhance public awareness of the nation’s production of ready mixed concrete; advance legislation that supports the production and delivery of ready mixed concrete;  and educate elected officials and staff about the economic value of a healthy and robust industry to build our nation’s transportation and infrastructure systems, as well as residential housing and commercial building and construction markets to create and sustain job growth.

The caucus provides NRMCA and the ready mixed concrete industry a better way to educate Congress about the how laws and regulations coming from Washington impact the production and delivery of ready mixed concrete. It also helps to develop a "home team" of champions in Congress and it quickly connects us with Members of Congress and their staff when issues arise. NRMCA needs your help: please contact your congressional representatives and ask them to join the Congressional Ready Mixed Concrete Caucus.

Simply click here to send your representative a letter asking them to join the caucus. Members of Congress respond best when they are approached by constituents. For more information, contact Andrew Tyrrell at atyrrell@nrmca.org or 240-485-1156.
Education & Training
NRMCA is now offering two tracks of sales classes, one for sales managers and another for sales representatives:

*New Sales Manager Leadership Series: The Sales Management Development Program marries a workshop with follow-up online lectures to give ready mixed concrete sales managers the tools to have a positive, profound impact on their sales staff. During the winter months, sales managers will work through a step-by-step process to assure their team kicks into full gear as the busy spring season starts.

Part 1: The Sales Management Leadership Workshop on November 15-16 launches the program with a networking dinner of peers, followed by a two-day, intensive workshop that focuses on the critical skills and tools needed by today’s ready mixed concrete sales managers. The content’s cornerstone is an industry-specific, real life case study where attendees team with colleagues to learn and implement new strategies that optimize the performance of a sales team while building personal management, leadership and sales coaching skills.

Part 2: Webinar lectures. Following the workshop, participants partake in a mandatory series of three Webinars.
• Webinar #1: Sales Performance Assessments and Reviews...for Ready Mix Sales Managers | January 23, 2018
• Webinar #2: Personal Leadership and Coaching | February 20, 2018
• Webinar #3: Recruiting, Hiring, and Retaining Top Performing Ready Mix Sales Reps | March 20, 2018

This is a one-price package; you cannot register for separate pieces. Space is limited to 25. Click here for more information and registration options. *Please note that this content is NOT for sales reps. The E-NEWS item directly below is targeted for them.
Each module of NRMCA's Certified Concrete Sales Professional (CCSP) series will be held in Silver Spring, MD (metro Washington, DC), beginning in October and ending in March 2018.
