Greetings AANM Members! What a great start to 2018. As you read this, we will have held the first AANM Membership luncheon for 2018, and I anticipate it will be exciting, informative, and some great networking. We also hosted a successful training session for our Santa Fe members earlier this month and are looking forward to seeing those of you in the Las Cruces area next week for a happy hour!

We are busy putting the final touches on the Apartment Conference and Trade Show (ACTS), Spring Training. Remember, this year the dates for the conference are April 11-13th; it is also the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. Please make sure you get registered at www.nmaptconf.com. The Poster Contest is open to all children (Pre-K to 12th grade) living in a member community. We have 15 awards available. There will be one winner for each age group plus a People’s Choice. Winner receives acknowledgement, his/her winning poster framed and featured in a print calendar, and a $250 gift card!

Our Scholarship Program is available to all residents and employees (and their dependents) of an AANM or a SWAHG member property. Applicants must be enrolled in or entering a College/Trade School for the fall 2018 term. Applicant must complete all sections of the application. Applications are due by March 5, 2018.

Last week, our legislation in the House – H.R. 620 – to curb "drive-by" lawsuits under the Americans with Disabilities Act passed by a vote of 225-192. It was not pretty and we were fighting for individual votes right through the debate on the bill.

The NAA Excellence Awards, or Excels, recognize leadership in the rental housing industry. These national awards celebrate builders, industry professionals and affiliated apartment associations that make unique contributions to our industry. Award entries are submitted through an easy-to-use online process. The deadline to enter is March 23, 2018.
