As a Tree Farmer, you are probably always doing something for your land. Whether it is getting out there in the woods and pulling invasives or planting seedlings. Or perhaps it is the mental list of things you need to do that is always in your head.

Did you know that the American Tree Farm System has developed a tool to help you manage that to-do list? It is the Task List tool on the MyLandPlan.org website. This tool allows you to schedule upcoming activities, get an email reminder when your dates are coming up, track progress and the completion of your project. You can even upload and save work photos, documents such as receipts or contracts, or anything else relevant to your project.

Don’t have a MyLandPlan.org account? Create your free account today and get started mapping your land, tracking your activities and saving memories in the Forest Journal.

Invasive weeds represent one of the most significant threats to the economy and ecology of the United States, causing billions of dollars in damage each year to farms and ranches and degrading millions of acres of critical wildlife habitat. NFWF's Pulling Together Initiative provides modest grants to help local communities effectively manage these plant invaders.

The Pulling Together Initiative is one of the only public-private partnerships to address invasive weeds nationally. Pulling Together Initiative grants are intended to help support the creation of local cooperative weed management area partnerships. Such partnerships bring together local landowners, citizens groups and weed experts to develop and implement strategies for managing weed infestations on public lands, natural areas, and private working lands.

Education Opportunities
The Steering Committee for Project Learning Tree has always had a few representatives from Industry. Sally Lane was with MeadWestvaco but is now employed elsewhere. Donna Reckart, of AWP, was another Industry rep also employed outside the forest products industry.

Therefore, Linda Carnell, of the WV DOF and Interim State Coordinator of WV PLT, informs WVFA that it would be good to seek new industry representatives, as soon as possible.

Ed Kraynok, President of WVFA, has indicated that persons interested in occupying these two volunteer PLT positions should telephone the WVFA office at 304-372-1955, fax to 304-372-1957 or email WVFA@WVFA.org.

Please contact the WVFA office if you can donate 50 BF of rough (not planed) 8/4 hard maple to the Valley Woodworkers of West Virginia. You will recall that this is the organization that crafts wooden toys free for children at Christmas and always contributes such nice items for the Tree Farm Silent Auction each year.
