The WRLA would like to thank our friends at the Manitoba Home Builders Association and their President, Mike Moore for permitting us to send this important information regarding the new Energy Code. Although this information makes some references to Manitoba, the information specific to Section 9.36 is applicable to all areas of Canada.

Please advise your contractors, builders, and appropriate staff of the changes to the code to ensure compliance. As more information becomes available.  The new energy code came into effect on Friday, April 1. This will impact all new home construction and all building permits submitted after that date must comply with the new code. In an effort to better inform our members, in the past year the MHBA has offered a breakfast technical session, conducted a session at the Housing Forum and participated in two instructional workshops regarding code changes.
