LARRY MILLER RETIRES FROM PENHOLD BUILDING SUPPLIES

Born in the Caroline area he grew up in Central Alberta.  Many times someone would come in and memories of school days or social events would be chatted about with much laughter.   Larry loved to have fun, and many of the stories they shared proved that.Larry started with Stewart Supplies (Penhold) Ltd on August 12, 1969.  He and Casey den Boer and Seb Griffin built grain bins, and bin floors for years.  Shortly after Larry started, the store, as it is now known, was added to the front of the archrafter.

Eventually Larry worked in the store full time as a salesman/estimator.  Many of you in the Central Alberta area bought a house, or a barn, or a shop from him over the years.  In fact, he may also have sold a building to one or more of your children, and even your grand children,  Many times he heard, "I don't know if you remember me but I used to come in with my dad (or grandpa) years ago."  He'd smile at the connection and then later secretly admit it made him feel a little old.

In 2003 when the business was sold and became Penhold Building Supplies Ltd. Larry continued his tenure behind the sales desk.  He loved to spend a few minutes just chatting with old friends when they came in, and he always remembered a face. He always hated to admit it, but he sometimes forgot the name to go with the face.

He now has a 7 day weekend so he can putter in his yard, and tend to his garden.  Larry and his wife Sheila live in Innisfail. His daughter Kristen lives in Innisfail while his daughter Angie lives in Calgary and son Brad in Edmonton.  Larry's knowledge, his smile, his sense of humor, and his work ethics were an example to all of us, and we will miss him around here.
