Uncovering the Unconscious Bias in All of Us

Unconscious bias training is one of the most positive steps an organization can take to manage hidden biases and reduce their negative effects on the workplace.
Here at Wnet — a nonprofit whose mission is to create a stronger and more diverse industry by empowering and investing in women — we believe participating in such training will enable our leaders and staff to build a stronger foundational frame of reference when discussing DEI, setting priorities and planning initiatives that will be offered to our more than 4,200 members.
As a result, on April 6, 2021, the DEI Council began the first of three DEI sessions by welcoming Wnet PAC member Joe Carella, assistant dean - Executive Education, Eller School of Management at the University of Arizona. The one-hour virtual discussion encompassed everything from defining exactly what “unconscious bias” is to the many types of biases that we all may have, or encounter, daily.
