In mid-December, VTCA co-hosted a Legislative Breakfast in NOVA with an impressive list of current and new legislators. Associations partnering with VTCA again this year were the Heavy Highway Contractors Association, NOVA Transportation Alliance, Virginia Asphalt Association, and Associated Builders & Contractors.

Registration is now open for the 2024 TCMI program, marking over three decades of training Virginia’s transportation industry’s emerging leaders. Offered at Virginia Tech’s campus in Blacksburg, TCMI leads participants through a comprehensive developmental program tailored for individuals on a leadership track in the industry.
In late November the National Cooperative Highway Research Program posted the Road Usage Charge Guide to help states develop and implement programs to offset fuel-tax based revenue losses from fuel-efficient, hybrid, and fully electric vehicles.
Information on rehabilitation of the existing fifteen-span concrete deck slab supported on continuous steel girders, concrete beams, and reinforced concrete substructure piers carrying I-395 HOV Freeway Bridge over the Potomac River.

MSHA has issued the final rule for power haulage for surface mine operators. The official rule is called “Safety Program for Surface Mobile Equipment”.
