Mineral Mining and the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA) sponsor the annual Virginia Mineral Mine Safety Awards. Since its inception in 2007, the program has recognized 96 companies and 397 mineral miners for outstanding safety achievements in Virginia’s mineral mining industry.
Through the annual VTCA Transportation Contractor Safety Award Program, the Alliance proudly recognizes its contractor members that successfully demonstrate their commitment to a safe and healthy working environment. Awards are judged and awarded according to total number of work hours reported.   
VTCA is pleased to announce that NSSGA's Engineering and Technical Committee (E&T) has officially appointed VTCA’s own – Kevin McGhee to the Airfield Pavement Technology Program – Project Coordination Group (APTP PCG) as a representative of the aggregate industry.
On July 21, about two dozen science teachers ascended on Vulcan Materials Dale Quarry in Chester, VA. The Rockin’ PD Quarry Tours are geared for science teachers to give them an inside look at aggregate operations and why aggregates are critical to society.
T3 Design is excited to welcome Randy Boice, P.E. as Vice President, in charge of Company Growth, Technology, and Strategic Vision.
The Frazier Quarry Inc. is pleased to announce that Paul H. Vining has been elected to the Board of Directors, effective immediately.

The Department of Motor Vehicles says that they received information that 5 Star CDL Training, a third-party training and testing site, may have been improperly administering CDL knowledge and skills tests.

Mission Tomorrow is a forward-thinking, career exploration event that focuses on the development of our local youth and workforce during a three-day program that allows local businesses to interact with over 12,000 eight grade students in the surrounding areas.
On July 20, The Winchester Star reported that the Frederick County Planning Commission voted to recommend the County Board of Supervisors approve the Northeast Land Use Plan (NELUP), which keeps 566 acres reserved for extractive mining.
VDOT has recently launched their “Corridor Wide Materials Estimate” feature on their Improve 81 website. This webpage provides estimates for asphalt, aggregates, pipe, guardrail, and structures products. The page also breaks out the estimated materials by year and by district along the I-81 corridor.
