Industry News

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has proposed a rollback of the waiver on manufactured products used in federal-aid highway projects under Buy America requirements. This proposed rollback is expected to have a significant impact on federally funded construction projects.
Virginia’s highway use fee (HUF) is intended to close the gap between what the average gas-fueled vehicle pays in state gas tax and what is paid by fuel-efficient and electric vehicles, which consume less fuel and therefore pay less taxes. Revenue is deposited into the Commonwealth Transportation Fund to support transportation infrastructure.
FHWA proposes to modify existing regulations for the administration of engineering and design related service contracts to clarify how the regulations apply to recipients other than State Transportation Agencies (STAs) that are awarded FHWA-administered discretionary grants. The proposal includes technical amendments to improve the regulations.
