This year’s Engineering Consultant Forum was honored to receive opening comments from VTCA’s current President, Nater Orders from Orders Construction. Randy Wirt, Chair of the Engineering Consultant Leadership Committee (ECLC) returned this year to highlight the Forum’s theme, “Virginia in Motion – Leading the future of Transportation”, and to provide a charge to the audience. Also making a return visit with a keynote address was Bob Holsworth, DecideSmart, who provided an entertaining assessment of the upcoming gubernatorial election, as well as some insights into various General Assembly contests.  
 
 
With the rapidly approaching implementation of the MSHA “Silica Rule” VTCA and MSHA have scheduled two Noise & Dust Workshops for October. Below is information about the Workshop. Please note, space is very limited.

VTCA has added an additional ESCCC-QP Certification class in October to meet growing demand. This course provides essential training and certification for erosion and sediment control professionals, ensuring compliance and best practices across Virginia projects.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Calvin Lee Stanley, longtime leader of Stanley Construction Company and a valued member of our VTCA family.
VDOT proudly announces that Greg Henion, P.E., has been selected as the Fredericksburg District Engineer (DE).
 
Greg has over 32 years of experience in engineering and transportation, with a mix of work in both the public and private sectors.
The success of this event – both in creating an enjoyable experience and raising funds for charity – is thanks to the participation and support of attendees. This year, the outing will help neighbors in need who were impacted by flooding and major storms. In addition, several food banks in the region that are facing significant demand will receive much-needed funding.
The use of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) in asphalt mixtures has been steadily increasing for years, nationally and internationally, given the economic and associated environmental benefits of using such material. However, using RAP in asphalt mixtures poses some challenges regarding durability and performance that are often associated with the highly aged binder in RAP.
