VDOT Selects New Fredericksburg District Engineer

VDOT proudly announces that Greg Henion, P.E., had been selected as the Fredericksburg District Engineer (DE).

Greg has over 32 years of experience in engineering and transportation, with a mix of work in both the public and private sectors. More than 15 years of his career has been spent at VDOT, serving the Commonwealth, including in the Fredericksburg District as the District Maintenance Engineer (DME) and the District Construction Engineer (DCE). As District Engineer, Greg will oversee planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations for nearly 12,000 miles of state-maintained roads in the 14-county Fredericksburg District. Greg’s first day in the Fredericksburg District is September 10.

Greg’s broad base of experience across VDOT and in the private sector, as well as the leadership roles he has held, have prepared him well to take this next step as the leader of the Fredericksburg District.

As Greg transitions out of his current role as State Structure and Bridge Engineer, several other changes will occur:

Shailendra Patel, P.E. will move to the role of Acting State Structure and Bridge Engineer. Jeff Roby, P.E. will move from Assistant State Alternative Project Delivery Engineer to Acting State Alternative Project Delivery Engineer.
