Robert “Bob” Scott Jones, a respected figure in Virginia’s construction industry, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, just two days before his 74th birthday. Over the course of his career, Bob played a vital role in building and improving infrastructure throughout Southwest Virginia.

After earning a business degree from East Tennessee State University – where he also played football – Bob launched his construction career in the early 1980s. In 1984, he founded R.S. Jones & Associates, Inc., and in 1987, he and his wife Carol co-founded Boring Contractors, Inc., now known as Jones Road & Bridge. Under Bob’s leadership, the company successfully completed hundreds of road, utility, and rail projects across the region.

Known for his hands-on leadership and deep industry knowledge, Bob remained actively involved in project management and operations until his passing. He also helped organize the Old Dominion Highway Contractor’s Association and served as its president.

Through decades of hard work, Bob built more than roads – he built lasting connections, a strong business, and a legacy of integrity and service to his community.
