District News

The Tidewater District hosted its last meeting of the year on Wednesday, April 4, at Pivot Physical Therapy's Oyster Point location. We are grateful to our sponsors, Progressive Prosthetic & Orthopedic Services, for sponsoring and providing refreshments. Our guest speaker, Beth Ackerman, PT, DPT, SCS, gave a funny, insightful, and excellent overview of vestibular rehab and implications in post-concussion care. We also voted to change our bylaws to include Poquoson as a city within our District's jurisdiction. We had more than 30 guests attend, many of whom were clinicians, as just a handful of students were present.

Our District Leadership Team will be meeting in Norfolk on Wednesday, May 30, at 6:30 to begin planning 2018-2019 programming. This team of volunteers holds elected and non-elected positions within our district, but we are always eager for new clinicians and students to join us at this meeting with no expectation of further commitment. We will be discussing speakers, sponsors, and service opportunities to engage the PTs/PTAs/SPTs/SPTAs in the Tidewater District. Please email Emily (District Director)  if you would like to attend!

The Tidewater District is pleased to host and offer "Gait Theory and Practice", a 15-hour Type I course offering. The course will be held at Pivot Physical Therapy's Oyster Point clinic on June 2-3, 2018. See the attached flyer/brochure for more details on course content, registration fees, and more!
The Tidewater District will be sponsoring the 12th Annual Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine Update on June 14, 2018, at CHKD in Norfolk, VA. There is a discounted registration fee for APTA members because of our sponsorship. Check out the brochure to register and learn more about the educational offerings. You may also register online.
