Deb Rose, PT, DPT

Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy

Dr. Rose received her B.S. in physical therapy at SUNY Upstate Medical University, and her post professional Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree in 2008 from Drexel University. After practicing in a variety of adult acute care, rehab, and home health settings, she moved to pediatric practice in the school setting at Fairfax County Public Schools. Her desire to translate and apply research and practice for children, families and school teams was a driving force in obtaining her PPDPT at Drexel.
APPTAC features more than 50 educational sessions in a multi-track format to address a comprehensive range of pediatric issues. In addition, it features a full exhibit hall, poster presentations, a practice fair, fitness activities, a number of engagement activities for students and new professionals, and several fun social events.

Industry News
Each year, the VPTA honors outstanding member achievements in the areas of education, practice and service, publications, research, and academic excellence. Awards in the program include the Catherine Worthingham Fellows, the Mary McMillan and John H.P. Maley Lectureships and two NEW awards: the APTA Humanitarian Award and the APTA Societal Impact Award. These new awards will recognize physical therapy leaders who demonstrate and bring awareness to the profession through volunteerism and philanthropic initiatives. Award recipients are recognized in June during a ceremony and reception at the NEXT Conference and Exposition, and this recognition includes highlighting the recipients’ component affiliations.

Who will lead the VPTA as the profession pursues its transformational vision? The deadline to recommend potential candidates for national office positions is November 1. The Nominating Committee (NC) needs your help to ensure that there is a strong and diverse 2018 slate of candidates. Your participation to recommend individuals you believe would be excellent Board of Directors (Board) or NC members is critical. The NC is seeking recommendations for the following positions: President, Vice President, Director (3), and Nominating Committee (1). Use the online Recommendation Form to submit the names of members who you believe are ready and willing to be considered for the upcoming election cycle. After making a recommendation, please reach out to the people you think would be outstanding additions to the Board and NC, let them know you have recommended them and why you think they would be excellent Board or NC members.
