We survived another year at the legislature and Governor McAuliffie kept us hanging until the last minute when he amended one of our bills – HB 1108 related to the use of Work Comp MODs for procurement. As it turned out he essentially recommended a technical/typo fix to the bill but we could not determine for sure what his intent for the bill was before the deadline and veto session.

Most E & O claims are litigated in Virginia Circuit Courts. These courts are governed by the Rules of the Supreme Court of Virginia.
Litigation is initiated by the filing of a Complaint, followed by the defendant’s responsive pleadings. Thereafter, pursuant to the Rules, the parties generally serve Interrogatories (written questions which must be answered in writing under oath) and Requests for Production of Documents. RICHMOND —Thinking about changing health insurance plans or purchasing new coverage? The State Corporation Commission’s (SCC) Bureau of Insurance warns Virginians not to fall victim to high-pressure telemarketers selling short-term or limited benefit health insurance policies. These types of policies are not compliant with the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA), despite some company promises, and consumers who purchase these policies may also be required to pay a fee assessed through their federal income taxes if the only health insurance coverage they have is a short-term or limited benefit policy.
