On April 23 at 4:00 p.m., many members of the Virginia insurance industry and family and friends of Lee Nye gathered at the Virginia Farm Bureau’s home office in Goochland, Va. to honor Lee for his valuable and faithful service to the citizens of Virginia and to the Virginia insurance industry as the general manager of the Virginia Property Insurance Association since 1988.

VAPAC is the state political action committee that collects funds from the general membership for distribution to candidates who have a proven interest in and support for insurance legislation. It studies voting records and accepts contribution recommendations from the Legislative Committee.

 For Carmen Ward of Campbell Insurance in Lynchburg, it seems as though insurance is in her blood. Her mother worked for Nationwide Insurance for 40 years and Carmen’s sister has been working for Nationwide Insurance since she graduated from high school in 1983.

Real-life case studies provide the good, the bad and the ugly of E&O claims made against agents. They provide an excellent way to learn what agents should and should not be doing to reduce their E&O exposure. The names, of course, have been changed to protect the innocent and/or guilty.
