Unless you have been living under a rock for the past year, you probably have noticed that property insurance, both new and renewal, is getting just a bit harder to place or keep with carriers. While this applies to both commercial and personal insurance, this article is directed at homeowner insurance.
I am hearing from members that one of the issues that they are dealing with relates to homeowner policy renewals. Specifically, carriers are using photo images of rooftops taken by drones, airplanes and even satellites to make renewal decisions on individual policies.
In our modern digital age, where information flows seamlessly and transactions occur with a simple click, the insurance industry stands as a cornerstone of economic stability and risk mitigation. However, with the increasing reliance on technology, the industry has become a prime target for cyberattacks, illuminating the critical need for robust cybersecurity measures.

The EEOC recently released their proposed enforcement guidance for workplace harassment for public review and comment. It is a comprehensive document detailing workplace harassment with examples updated to reflect changes including the SCOTUS Bostock v. Clayton decision, #MeToo movement, and new virtual issues such as online harassment.

Honeycomb Insurance, whose technology eliminates the need for physical property inspections, has won regulator approval to write policies in Virginia. The company, which began operating in 2021, writes in 15 states, including North Carolina, Pennsyslvania and New Jersey. It will now be able to offer coverage in Virginia for apartment complexes, condominium associations and single-family rental dwellings, the company said in a news release.
