In response to two legislative proposals during the 2018 Session of the General Assembly, the DMV is conducting an industry-wide study on what Virginia can do to increase the number of insured drivers on today’s highways. IIAV is the only agent’s organization represented on this study panel. Presently, Virginia is ranked 17th lowest of 51 jurisdictions, with only 9.9 percent of the drivers on the roads uninsured. Florida is ranked as the state with the highest percentage of uninsured drivers at 26.7 percent.

In March of this year, the IRS lowered the Health Savings Account “HSA” contribution limit for individuals with family coverage from $6,900 to $6,850. Thankfully, the IRS recently announced it has reversed that decision and will now allow family based accountholders to contribute up to the original contribution limit of $6,900.

RICHMOND – Recent heavy rains and flooding in many areas of Virginia are good reminders that it’s never too early to plan for disasters. With the Atlantic hurricane season just around the corner, the State Corporation Commission’s (SCC) Bureau of Insurance (Bureau) encourages Virginians to review insurance policies now to make sure you have the coverage you need in the event of a hurricane or other disaster.
