Monty Dise, with Asset Protection Group, has contributed $10,000 to IIAV’s Building Fund in memory of Bob Short who passed away in November 2015.

The Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia announced that Monty Dise with Asset Protection Group has donated $10,000 in memory of Bob Short to the IIAV Building Fund for 2020 placing Bob’s name on the IIAV Dwight L. Dillon Wall of Honor.

“I will celebrate over 30 years in the insurance business and as I reflect back on my journey, it brings back a lot of emotions ranging from the many struggles, to the rewarding successes“ noted Monty Dise. “I’ve also reflected on the industry legends and leaders of IIAV that we have lost, and they include both Danny Mitchell and Bob Short.”

Monty made a similar contribution last year in recognition of the recent passing of Danny Mitchell

“It’s notable that the Wall of Honor is designated ‘Recognizing those who have contributed to a vision for our industry and profession’ and both Danny Mitchell and Bob Short are the epitome of industry legends in Virginia,” stated Bob Bradshaw, IIAV’s President & CEO.

Despite his name, Bob Short was a giant in the insurance industry in Virginia before has passing in 2015 and was a long sought-after instructor on insurance issues ... often scaring professionals in his E&O class.  First starting in the industry in 1971 he received numerous industry awards including IIAV’s Agent of the Year in 2006 and Outstanding Young Agent of the Year in 1981. He was also actively involved in IIAV and VFSC serving on the Board of Directors of both organizations – serving as IIAV’s Chairman in 2013.

Not only was Bob active in IIAV, but he was active in his community and served as adjunct faculty at Piedmont Virginia Community College as well as on the board of directors for the Seminole Trail Volunteer Fire Department.

“I want to thank my professional associates who have welcomed me into this great insurance industry, profession and urge others to join me in recognizing both Danny Mitchell and to be appropriately honored in permanent recognition,” stated Monty Dise.  “I’ve always said ... no one has endurance like the one who sells insurance! It’s a great profession that helps a lot of people when they need help the most!”
