“Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of overcoming it.”
Helen Keller, quoted in Parade

When you think of it, our job in the insurance industry is to help individuals and businesses overcome suffering or overcome the possibility of suffering. We represent an awesome industry and profession and we need to embrace calling our clients and asking how we can help prepare for events and ensure that we can overcome suffering.

It’s with this in mind that you will want to carve out just 90 minutes out of each of October 13/14/15 for IIAV’s Virtual Convention and Trade Show. For each of these days, IIAV is bringing you some of the country’s greatest leaders and motivators to give you a shot in the arm and ideas on how to establish a positive mission for you, your agency and most importantly, your customers.

October 13 – Commander Kirk Lippold
He was Captain of the USS Cole when it was bombed by al Qaeda in Yemen in 2000, and 17 servicemen were killed and 39 wounded. It was a surprise suicide attack and Captain Lippold was called upon for leadership at the split second. Hard to believe that IIAV contracted with Commander Lippold well over a year ago, and who knew that his message would be even more timely today. He will discuss “Leadership & Accountability When It Matters.” Commander Lippold is a highly sought after speaker, and he will be speaking directly, virtually, to the entire IIAV membership.

October 14 – Spencer Houldin
Co-President of Ericson Insurance Advisors in Connecticut and past chairman of IIABA, Spencer will be speaking on “Transforming Your Agency After COVID.” Simply put, I believe that Spencer is beyond awesome. I have had the honor and privilege to see Spencer on the IIABA Board, Leadership, Executive Committee and Chair or our national association. Let me just list two testimonials for his agency:

As a client of Ericson for over a decade, I recommend them without hesitation. They have been there for me throughout my life changes and after a loss. They are extremely responsive whenever called upon. They share my philosophy that insurance is for the catastrophic loss and imperative for wealth preservation.

Don’t you want your clients to say that about you and your agency? I urge everyone in your agency to listen to Spencer and then meet to plan for the agency's future. Here’s a flag that you will want to follow.

October 15 – Kelly McDonald
I actually wonder if there is a insurance company that Kelly, with McDonald Marketing, has not spoken to and wonder why Virginia is about the only Big I state association she has not addressed … yet. I have to tell you, when we were interviewing Kelly, she blew us away with her insight and focus. It came as no surprise that when we asked the other Big I state associations what they thought of her, they universally told us that they could not wait to get her back to speak. She will address “How to Help and Serve Your Customers NOW and Transition to Business Normal Later.” (Picking up a theme here?) Again, AGENCY PRINCIPALS – get your entire office to invest in the time to listen to Kelly and then meet together to discuss how you can translate her message to your agency today and into the future.

These speakers are so very important to our time, this time ... it’s simply a great opportunity that IIAV can bring these speakers to you and your agency FREE of charge thanks to the many insurance company sponsors and partners who see the value and support for the independent agency system being critical to their own future and operations.

We can and will overcome the grief and uncertainty of today and we’ll do it together.
