Carina has been in the insurance industry for over 5 years and has worked at several agencies. She is located in Sandston and plans on serving clients in the Richmond and central Virginia area. The agency offers prompt, professional service for auto, home, and small businesses. She believes in being a part of the local community and feels being a member of the association will help enhance her branding and name recognition as well as provide other additional resources to help improve her effectiveness and efficiency.

Mac has been involved in several business and academic functions over his career. He has taught Religion, Pre-law and Business at UVA, University of Richmond and VA Tech. He retired and decided to open his own Life and Health agency. He is located in Richmond and plans on serving clients in the central Virginia area and is offering both personal and group benefit plans. He is active in local community affairs and feels being a member of the association will help enhance his branding and name recognition as well as provide other additional resources to help improve his effectiveness and efficiency. He has obtained his E&O coverage through our insurance department.

Brett has been working for a national insurance broker for the last 14 years. With all the changes in the marketplace he decided it was time to pursue his dream and branch out on his own. On August 1, 2020, he formed CI Solutions, a boutique property and casualty insurance agency where client satisfaction is his number one priority. He is located in Nokesville and plans on serving clients in the Northern VA corridor. He has the ability to handle everything from large complex captive insurance programs to a personal lines auto and homeowners policy. He feels being a member of the association will help enhance his branding and name recognition as well as provide other additional resources to help improve his effectiveness and efficiency. He has also obtained his E&O coverage through our Insurance Dept.

Vertus Insurance Partners, LLC, is headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, brings a specialized hurricane insurance solutions and related technology to catastrophic risk protection for homeowners and small business. Their offering provides protection that reduces out-of-pocket expenses if the insureds incur losses due to hurricanes. Their Cat4Home product provides added coverage protection for a Category 1 or higher hurricane, by paying for losses incurred within the hurricane deductible of the homeowner’s policy. Cat4Home offers the opportunity to minimize and possibly eliminate the high cost of hurricane deductibles for a reasonable annual premium, resulting in reduced deductible out-of-pocket expenses associated with property damage caused by a named hurricane. 

This unique hurricane deductible buy-back product is underwritten by Zurich Insurance. They are entering the states of Va, Nc, Sc and feel being a member of the association shows their commitment to the states and the independent agents. They also feel the partnership with help enhance their branding and name recognition. They hope to be going live in VA by mid Aug and still see the convention as a good opportunity.

Sands Anderson PC is a full-service law firm headquartered in Richmond and with offices throughout the Commonwealth.  They offer a broad range of legal specialties that support the insurance industry, such as data security, employment law, litigation, crisis management, corporate governance, healthcare, and commercial real estate.  Of particular importance to the insurance industry, especially in light of the current regulatory climate, is their Cybersecurity and Technology team, which focuses on data security compliance, data privacy, data breach response, and data strategy, as well as technology contracts.  Through their membership in IIAV, they are looking forward to forging new relationships and furthering their support of our members. They hope to offer critical legal counseling and analysis for members, and work collaboratively with members and business partners to share knowledge and best practices that drive success.

Securibly provides an intuitive, self-service cybersecurity compliance platform built specifically for independent insurance agencies. They offer a cost-effective alternative to hiring a consultant.  Without the need for any internal cybersecurity expertise, they provide a level of cybersecurity compliance software designed specifically for small – to – mid size independent insurance agencies. Their innovative risk assessment software will help agencies comply with Virginia’s cyber security requirements which extended into the new legislation that was passed this year. They offer analysis of exposure as well as the ability to create a procedure manual, incident responses and reporting to staff training. They hope that their membership can help them enhance their branding and name recognition. Their goal is partner with our members to provide knowledge and best practices.   Through their membership in IIAV, they are looking forward to forging new relationships and provide support of our members.

 

HKA Enterprises                                  Newport News

HKA Enterprises is based in Duncan, South Carolina and has been in business for over 43 years.  They have now opened a location in Newport News, Va. They are a multinational organization that specializes in working with insurance agencies to place moderate to high-risk worker’s compensation policies, and offers IT and funded payroll programs. They offer a unique model as they function as an Employer of Record when obtaining Worker’s Compensation.  They hire  some or all employees of a company that they contract back to the employer.  This allows the employees to be under HKA’s worker’s compensation policy.  They are self-insured at $250,000 per claim  and re-insured by Zurich.  They generally write businesses that are in danger of going into assigned-risk or sent to a PEO (Professional Employer Organization).  They have worksite employees in all 50 states, and are able to write Worker’s Compensation nationwide.  They feel that being a member will help them gain branding and name recognition in their effort to provide our members knowledge and assist in placing difficult risks.
