Summer’s almost over so keep this in mind

Hard to believe that the Summer is almost over.  Kids are going back to school, the political season will heat up following Labor Day, businesses seem to take another look at their future growth and expectations…and opportunities abound.  Oh yes, this is also the time of year that NOAA does an additional projection on hurricane season and generally project that it will be busier than last year.

Here at IIAV we stand ready to assist you in your questions and research.  Don’t hesitate to call us when you have a question or client research in mind.  Just recently we had members call:

  • Asking about coverage changes for/about drones.
  • HR issues from updating the agency personnel manual to looking for new employees.
  • Looking for a company that can underwrite an unusual risk (nonprofit organization, fitness camp, health insurance for a strange scenario, etc.).
  • Legislative initiatives regarding surprise billing.
  • Information on comparative agency management systems.
  • Coverage questions related to auto dealers and when a car is sold.
  • What’s the best encryption program for emails?
  • A call about The Jones Act and Workers Compensation and how each applies to the oyster industry in Virginia.
  • Appropriately drafted Non-Disclosure Agreements
  • A perennial question about clients pulling MVR.

The list goes on.  We get calls.  The importance of this however is that you know to call IIAV first when you have a question.  Let us be your “Google.”  IIAV has some of the highest caliber of professionals representing and working for you and if we don’t know an answer for you, we’ll get it.  We also have access – as do you – to the Big I’s Virtual University and the Agents Council on Technology, both of which can provide their assessment of question/coverages and technology issues you face.

We’re aware that IIAV’s dues are an investment by your agency.  Yes, we provide education, information resources and advocacy but IIAV does so much more.  For agency principals, have you all checked out the new national program Big I Hires?  It’s a valuable HR component that was written up in Rough Notes recently and several members have used it with great results.  We’re using it now for an Account Manager position and also may need to have HR Affinity Group update our social media policy in our personnel manual.

In short, it’s the rare situation that you and/or your agency could run into a complication or issue and IIAV is likely able to provide some assistance.

So just remember this, call IIAV first.  We are your primary resource dedicated to the success of your agency.
