National Construction Safety Week, May 5 – 9

Each year, National Construction Safety Week, May 5 – 9, offers us a powerful reminder: safety is more than a policy or a checklist—it’s a shared value, a collective commitment, and a daily choice. This year’s theme, “We’re All in Together: Building a Stronger, Safer Industry,” speaks directly to the heart of what makes our industry resilient and successful: our people.

Construction is an industry built on trust, teamwork, and grit. Whether you’re on a jobsite, behind a design, managing a schedule, or leading a crew, safety is the common thread that binds us. When one of us commits to working safely, it sets the tone for others. When a team looks out for each other, that culture spreads. Safety doesn’t live in isolation—it’s a chain reaction.

This week is more than a campaign—it’s a call to action. Let’s commit to:

Reinforce the basics. PPE, fall protection, hazard recognition—these aren’t just box-checking tasks. They’re lifesaving essentials.
Empower every voice. Encourage open communication. Every worker should feel safe not just physically, but mentally—safe to share concerns without fear.
Lead by example. Whether you’re an experienced foreman or a first-year laborer, your actions set the tone. Be the model of what safety looks like.
AGC Members build more than structures. We’re building careers, families, and futures. And none of that happens without safety at the core of what we do.

Let’s keep pushing forward—together. When safety is everyone’s job, we all go home!

Plan – Commit - Act
