A Word From AGCVA Chairman, Trip Smith

I hope this finds you well as we have entered into the holiday season! We appreciate your membership and thank all those that take the time to serve and volunteer with AGCVA. It was nice to host a District Officers Council (DOC) meeting in Richmond this month to educate new district officers on the responsibilities of serving and provide a reminder for those that continue to serve.

We've had a busy third quarter, as we've approved our strategic plan, business plan and budget for the year ahead. State officers and our CEO have been making the rounds to monthly district meetings to help promote our new strategic plan and further communicate what is going on across districts and in the AGCVA office. Advocacy efforts have also ramped up in preparation for the coming General Assembly session. As part of our three strategic plan pillars advocate, grow and connect, advocacy remains at the forefront as a top value to our members. AGCVA is always advocating for you on critical issues looming in our legislation, as well as for our industry, promoting construction as a rewarding and honorable career.

At AGCVA we are always striving to get better and bring more value to our members. Nothing changes if we don’t change. AGCVA believes what matters most is our membership, what the issues are to our members and what AGCVA can do about it. We fortunately have AGCVA staff that excel at what they do in areas that matter most to our members.  Aligning AGCVA staff with the issues instead of geography may bring more value to each of us as members. Every district still has a liaison, but now AGCVA has staff providing additional focus and support in other areas as well, to help deliver more value directly to you.

I look forward to seeing you all at the next AGCVA event and at our winter convention 2022! Happy Holidays!
