The AGC awards programs recognize the nation's most pioneering projects as well as talented and community-minded contractors, innovative and successful AGC chapters, student chapter achievements, and contractors implementing outstanding safety programs.

A group of Young Construction Leaders from the Piedmont District helped out at Habitat for Humanity in Charlottesville on recently.

Roanoke District held a Virtual Beer Tasting & Tour that attracted attendees from several districts. The Valley Young Leaders took the opportunity to hold a social distancing networking event together on the big screen. Big Lick Brewing Co. was the Craft Beer of choice. Their Assistant Brewmaster led the attendees through 4 beers that they chose for tasting during this event. During the unique event there were 3 drawings for $50.00 gift cards. Winners were: Ashley Hughes (ConMat Group - Valley), Kean Marks (Draper Aden – Central) and Andrew Gregson (WGK Construction – NOVA). Thanks to everyone who participated.

Report A Positive Coronavirus Case, Workplace Fatality, Or Severe Injury notification portal provided by DOLI and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).  Reporting COVID-19 positive cases:  16 VAC 25-220-40.B.8.e of the Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) provides that “The employer shall notify the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) within 24 hours of the discovery of three (3) or more employees present at the place of employment within a 14-day period testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus during that 14-day time period.”

Rockbridge County High School went all remote for the first nine weeks of school, which works for many courses.  But what about their Career and Technical Education? Things like electronics, or carpentry and building trades? Well, they’ve come up with a solution for those, too.

“We’re in an open air, outside, fresh-air environment, socially distancing, wear a mask, doing all the proper safety protocols and allowing kids to come in and get their hands dirty a little bit,” said Paige Owens, the Career and Technical Education supervisor.

AGCVA now offers two ways to complete the Lean and BIM exam for those working to obtain the Lean or BIM credential.

1)   The AGCVA office in Richmond is an official testing center that offers flexible testing dates in a safe and sanitary space.

2)   Prefer testing in the comfort of your own office? AGC has just launched a virtual exam option.

Use the links below to apply for your exam. Indicate on your application that you will be testing through AGC of Virginia, and then select if you will be sitting for the exam In-Person or Online.

Both the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Navy require that CQM-C personnel pass this training program as part of the certification process. AGCVA has worked with these groups to provide this training on a convenient, reasonably-priced basis.  A registration fee of $250/member rate and $350/non-member rate will be charged per attendee to cover the cost of the meeting facility, lunch, handout materials, and refreshments.
