AGCVA Wins 2nd Place in Safety

Virginia BEST Level 1

Congratulations to MEB for being recognized by Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH) and AGCVA as a Virginia BEST Level 1 Contractor. The BEST (Building Excellence in Safety, Health and Training) program provides an added layer of safety and health management systems to benefit the construction workers and reduce or eliminate injuries, illnesses, and fatalities on the jobsites.

MEB meets the current VOSH regulatory requirements and with safety as the top priority, they are moving forward in the next step to achieve Level II

$45,000+ Raised for House Groundbreaking

Through partnerships between Associated General Contractors of Virginia Peninsula District (AGCVA), Habitat for Humanity, Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD), United Way of the Virginia Peninsula (UWVP), and other community non-profits, the Carmichael family received the help they needed to rebuild their home and family in Williamsburg. Over $45,000 has been raised along with several AGCVA members donations of labor, supplies and time. A groundbreaking was held on May 19th, 2020 with the family and volunteers.

OSHA issues NEW guidance on recording cases effective May 26

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued their latest guidance on recording cases of COVID-19 in the workplace and interim enforcement response plan. The enforcement memos will become effective on May 26, 2020 and rescinds both previously issued memos on each topic.

Under the new recordkeeping policy (see HERE), OSHA will enforce the recordkeeping requirements for employee coronavirus illnesses for all employers. However, the agency continues to acknowledge that in many instances it remains difficult to determine whether a coronavirus illness is work-related, especially when an employee has experienced potential exposure both in and out of the workplace.
