Roanoke-based Branch & Associates Inc., a major construction management firm, has changed its name to Branch Builds Inc.
“This rebranding represents the strong clarity we have around not only the amazing buildings for which we’re most often recognized, but also the many intangible things we must build to have successful projects; things like teamwork, transparency, trust, commitment, and accountability, ”  Craig Floyd, the president of Branch Builds, said in a statement.

“Team Up, We are Better Together"
I am honored to follow Robert Lee as your 2019 State Chairman. Robert is the epitome of a Southern Gentleman and I have enjoyed serving as his wingman whether we have been bending elbows on the legislative front or simply toasting others for a job well done!

33 years ago, my wife, Charlene and I attended our first AGC Va. Convention. Little did we know that my journey in the construction industry would lead me to stand before you today as the first subcontractor to serve as AGCVA Chairman.

Serving as a State officer over the last two years has been an eye-opening experience to say the least. Exposure to the National AGC by attending the National Leadership training in DC has revealed how much of a VOICE the AGC actually has regarding national policies and politics.  I encourage you to get someone in your firm more involved.

Immediate Past Chairman:  Robert Lee – English Construction

There was great networking  at the “Centennial Celebration” on Friday night.  Informative sessions on safety, recent construction court cases, workforce development, business planning and advocacy on state and federal issues.

Safety

The Roanoke District held a Business Meeting focused on the BEST Program.  Members learned the benefits of the Virginia BEST program.  AGCVA CEO Gordon Dixon, DOLI, Milford Stern along with Matthew Rutrough of Procon were speakers at the program.  Matthew is not only an AGCVA member but is a member of the Virginia BEST Program review board.  He provided an excellent overview of the program and the review process.

National AGC Safety Awards (NASA) program has been an ongoing effort since 1991 to offer AGC members an opportunity to evaluate their safety record. NASA compares an AGC member’s safety record with other AGC members according to the member size and construction type. Additionally, NASA provides a great opportunity for members who have excellent safety records to compete for nationally recognized awards.
