COVID-19 guidelines for Virginia workplaces are now officially enforced as of Thursday, August 27, 2020. Workplaces not following guidelines from the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry and the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health could be punished with fines and/or closure for repeat offenders. 
  
Virginia is first-in-the-nation to use Apple-Google Bluetooth framework to protect personal privacy  Governor Ralph Northam announced the launch of COVIDWISE, an innovative exposure notification app that will alert users if they have been in close contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19. Virginia is the first state in the country to design a COVID-19 app using Bluetooth Low Energy technology developed by Apple and Google, which does not rely on personal information or location data. Users opt-in to download and utilize the free app.

Both the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Navy require that CQM-C personnel pass this training program as part of the certification process. AGCVA has worked with these groups to provide this training on a convenient, reasonably-priced basis.  A registration fee of $250/member rate and $350/non-member rate will be charged per attendee to cover the cost of the meeting facility, lunch, handout materials, and refreshments.

The August Safety Taskforce meeting hosted VOSH employees Jennifer Rose, and Bill Groce to answer your COVID-19 questions, and provide guidance for compliance to the Emergency Temporary Standards.  AGCVA is committed to providing members with the ongoing resources you need.

Valley District YCL
Construction Trivia Night at Momentum Earthworks

The AGCVA Valley District Young Construction Leaders recently sponsored a Construction Trivia Night at Momentum Earthworks. Everyone enjoyed smoked chicken grilled by Donnie Smith (Harman Construction), and teams exercised their brains with trivia questions provided by Logan Nelson (Momentum Earthworks). Seven (7) teams* competed in the preliminary competition with a final lightening round emceed by Hans Harman (Momentum Earthworks); the Lantz Site-Seers and the TBD Dot DotDot teams competed in the lightning round with the winner being Lantz Site-Seers. Congratulations to the Lantz Site-Seers team.

Roanoke district held a Virtual Beer Tasting & Tour that attracted attendees from several districts.  The Valley Young Leaders took the opportunity to hold a social distancing networking event together on the big screen.  Big Lick Brewing Co. was the Craft Beer of choice.  Their Assistant Brewmaster led the attendees through 4 beers that they chose for tasting during this event.  During the unique event there were 3 drawings for $50.00 gift cards.  Winners were:  Ashley Hughes (ConMat Group - Valley),
Kean Marks (Draper Aden – Central) and Andrew Gregson (WGK Construction – NOVA).  Thanks to everyone who participated.
