One of the construction industry’s most widely-used mobile technologies makes critical data accessible in the field with first major Autodesk integration after acquisition
PlanGrid, an Autodesk company and a leader in construction productivity software, today introduced PlanGrid BIM
, a powerful new product integration with Autodesk RevitⓇ that enables users to immediately access Building Information Modeling (BIM) data, in either 2D or 3D, directly within PlanGrid on their mobile devices. Construction teams and facilities managers can now drill down into rich BIM data in an easy-to-use 2D interface or 3D environment, empowering the field to build with greater accuracy, avoid rework and make decisions faster and with more confidence.

SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference was the place to be on April 13th. High school students from around Virginia came to the Tidewater area to put their skills to the test in carpentry, cabinetmaking, plumbing, electrical wiring, and more. These students, who have been preparing since the fall of 2018, beat out their fellow classmates and local competition to be able to compete for the state champion title. With most construction competitions being conducted and judged by AGCVA members, students are exposed to professional feedback and guidance and our members were able to make connections with career and technical educators.

Environmental stewardship – Sea level rise - transportation related projects & preferred procurement methods
As a region, issues of importance that were identified were transportation, resiliency, and environmental stewardship. As such, great dialogue was exchanged regarding sustainability, upcoming projects, how to get work, and procurement vehicles. Each segment included the audience in a question and answer period that proved to be engaging and valuable. The below sections provide a high level overview of the discussion.
Upcoming Projects: Each panelist provided insight on current and upcoming capital projects. In general, public safety projects are being undertaken throughout the region (ex: fire stations). It is noted that the City of Virginia Beach is investing significantly in stormwater management projects, to the tune of $644M over the next five years, to counteract sea-level rise.

The Central District held their popular Legislative Luncheon and were hosted by Southern Air. State Senator Mark Peake had a candid discussion with the attendees and while this Session was known for its news drama, Senator Peake reminded members the legislators got lots of issues addressed.
One of the most important and concerning bills to AGCVA and our industry is The Statute of Limitations (HB 1667/SB1367) this would have created a statute of limitations on public construction projects, made substantial progress in the General Assembly this year, but ultimately would fail in a House of Delegates Appropriations Subcommittee controlled by Delegate Chris Jones. Senator Peake spoke of the diligent work that Gordon Dixon, Herschel Keller (Gentry Locke) and Scott Kowalski (Petty, Livingston, Dawson & Richards) and others have dedicated to the fight for this.
Teaching Project Managers the essential skills to ensure project success.
The Project Manager Development Program (PMDP) is for early-career project managers or those looking to move into such a role. It is a five-course program that covers the essentials of project management and provides a solid foundation for long-term career development. Each unit is around 16 hours of content, making the 5 course program around 80 hours of instruction. The curriculum is offered at many of AGC's chapters nationwide or can be brought in-house to construction firms and educational institutions.
