New River Brewfest Raised Over $9,000 for VCIEF

This year marked the 2nd year VCIEF (Virginia Construction Industry Education Foundation) was the lead non-profit host of the New River Brewfest.  The New River Brewfest is an outdoor beer festival that showcases handcrafted beer and cider distributed in Virginia with live music on the beautiful grounds of Nesselrod in Radford.  Thanks to numerous sponsors, advance ticket sales and beautiful spring weather, attendance was strong.  Several AGC members purchased a weekend sponsor package that included on-site accommodations and meals at Nesselrod Bed & Breakfast.

The Radford University Alumni Association was the lead sponsor and Specialty Beverage was the provider of all beverages.  The folks at New River Brewfest thought of everything including a variety of local musicians and shuttle service to several locations so no one had to worry about driving.

Funds for this event will go toward programs and activities throughout the Commonwealth designed to attract and train skilled workers for the construction industry.  AGC along with VCIEF will roll out a new marketing effort called Build Your Future (BYF) Virginia.  This initiative will promote the careers of commercial construction to teens, pre-teens, their parents, their teachers and school guidance counselors about the rewarding and sustainable careers in commercial construction.
