Tidewater Powerboat Event

This was the 11th Anniversary of PowerBoating for a Cure, and Bob Veith, the Event Chairman said, if you use the word “Epic” to describe this year’s event it would almost be an understatement….This year we had 56 Boats and 225 Riders Participate in the Run.

As in recent years, the 2-day event kicked off with “Fun Run”, where 25 boats, and 116 Participants traveled up to Bennett’s Creek Marina where they enjoyed the outdoor pool, easy docking accommodations, and a lunch buffet provided by Decoy’s.

The Waterside Sheraton and the Waterside Marina were home to the Event. With a very slight breeze, temperatures around 90 degrees, on Saturday the fleet traveled to Leeward Municipal Marina and then to Gatling Point. Next Stop (#3) was Blue Water Yachts , which is a mandatory lunch stop/relax in the pool stop.

After lunch, it was the helicopter back in the air, and the boats traveled to Rudees Restaurant at Rudee Inlet. After a cold refreshment in Rudee Inlet, everyone traveled into Lynnhaven Inlet for the 5th Stop, and finally back to Waterside Marina. The course this year covered 155 miles. That evening we enjoyed a Silent Auction, Dinner and Awards Party at the Sheraton Waterside Hotel.

At the awards party,
the 1st - 5th best card hands were recognized along with:
