2017 Tidewater Poker Run Raises $40,000 for Susan G. Komen & $5,000 for AGC Scholarships

In 2000, then Tidewater AGC President Stephen B. Ballard, S. B. Ballard Construction Company, Inc., created the Tidewater AGC Poker Run, an annual boating event, held in the Hampton Roads area, to benefit local charities.  For a number of years, the event bounced around from one charity to another until it finally settled on the Susan G. Komen Foundation and has stuck with that charity for nine years and the majority of the work for the event in done through the Mid Atlantic Power Boat Association (MAPA)

This year’s event, which sold out in only 3 days, raised over $40,000 for Susan G. Komen and another $5,000 for the AGC Scholarship Fund.  Bob Veith, a member of the MAPA committee and Secretary of the Tidewater AGC Executive Committee, a strong AGC supporter,  is to be commended for doing a great job organizing the event as is Mary Kromer for her hard work on the event and Lorie Shaffer for her work coordinating the Silent Auction, part of the event.

For more information on the 2017 year’s event, visit the MAPA web site at www.mapacharity.org
