Blacksburg starting talks to regulate Airbnb activities - this article is indicative of many efforts around the state to regulate room and home rentals of a short-term nature. The state General Assembly referred last year's legislation, which focused on a lodging tax structure, to a work group. VAMA will monitor the legislation proposed by the work group during the upcoming 2016/2017 Session.

The plan is to designate much of the southern part of the city as a rental inspection district, which means city inspectors would, under state law, be able to inspect the interior of rented property.
